University. Conservatory. Workshops. MasterClasses. PrivateCoach. Public speaking.
I find there are few things more satisfying than working closely with a developing theatre artist and helping them reach new levels of confidence, ease, humanity and their fullest potential in their work.
As an award-winning actor and director with extensive experience in a variety of genres, and having trained at The Yale School of Drama, I am versed in a wide range of acting approaches and directing techniques.
I have taught across the country -- from New York's Stella Adler Conservatory, to the University of Houston, to various Master Classes at Colleges, Universities, and Conservatories. I've also taught for the education departments of many respected theaters, the Classical Theatre Training Programs of Utah Shakespeare Festival, Montana Shakespeare in the Schools/Parks, and Quintessence Theatre Group.
In addition to structured classes, I am also a passionate and experienced Private Coach. I've coached actors of all ages and levels for shows, auditions, school, and public speaking events, as well as mentored fellow directors and served as a script consultant to developing writers, to great success.
And I would love to work with you!

Coaching with Emily is a dream. Her attention to detail plus her ability to get to know her actor inside and out makes the audition preparation a wonderful experience! She goes beyond just preparing for an audition, she teaches you techniques that will last throughout your career.. it was the most successful auditions I have had. I highly recommend her! |
I was fortunate enough to find Emily... and I could not have been more satisfied. Emily brings the depth of her experience and her Yale pedigree, and combines them with a keen understanding of text, a complex understanding of humanity, a true sense of collaboration, and, perhaps most importantly, FUN!! Her wit, intelligence, and enthusiasm are infectious, and I'd recommend her class to anyone. |
I could not have asked for a better teacher than Emily. I feel so safe when working with her... she is great with both classical and contemporary texts and was the teacher that really opened me up to the world of Shakespeare. The change in both my skills and confidence as an actor is so apparent, and I whole-heartedly recommend Emily to anyone who is interested in acting. |
Emily has a simple and intelligent approach to the work, whether it's Shakespeare or contemporary text. She is extremely intuitive and helps get you in touch with your heart and body, bringing your work to the fullest life. |
