InterPlay!9/1/2020 Let us tell you a new story. . . in a new way!PCPA’s InterPlay Reading Series is back and expanded by popular demand! This season we’re serving up SIX fresh-picked* plays on California’s Central Coast. PCPA will be presenting a different, ground-breaking play every weekend - September 18th to October 24th. I'm way too excited to get to help helm this series and to have the chance to direct and be in some of these readings. Join us from the comfort of your own home this September and October for LIVE! readings of freshly premiered plays, penned by exciting current playwrights, brought to life by PCPA’s talented and versatile company of actors. Stick around after the readings for talkbacks with the actors, directors, and even interviews with the playwrights themselves! InterPlay is a ticketed event (just $5!!) and will be performed LIVE! in Zoom webinar format - so no need to worry if you’re camera shy. The Rediscovery Reading Club6/20/2020 Join us this summer for The Rediscovery Reading Club (just like your favorite Book Club, but with dramatic texts and a performance element), where you have the opportunity to read and discuss classic works that merit happy meeting or rediscovery. Each month, registered participants will receive a copy of the play, along with discussion questions, and list of pivotal scenes to consider. Then, on the last Monday of each month, The Rediscovery Reading Club will meet over Zoom for a spirited discussion of the script from the comfort of your own home. The discussion will be moderated by PCPA Literary Associate, Emily Trask, and select scenes and moments from the play will be acted and explored by your favorite PCPA artists to illuminate the text in a whole new way! NPR - August Nights5/2/2020 ![]() NPR's series, The Takeaway, did a piece on the origins of Earth Day AND to underscore it, they featured the song August Nights by the amazing Gypsy George and the Open Road Love Affair - that I had the pleasure of playing cello on. You can catch it and the NPR episode here (the song is peppered throughout) - or - check out August Night's itself, and the rest of Gypsy George and the Open Road Love Affair's new Album - Politics, Ex-Girlfriends & the Ayn Rand Shuffle on Spotify. Creating in Quarantine4/18/2020 In 1606 the bubonic plague forced the theaters in London to close and social gathering to be prohibited. This was also the year that Shakespeare wrote 3 of his most famous tragedies: Macbeth, Antony & Cleopatra, and King Lear That's not to say you should feel any pressure to write a Shakespearean masterpiece during this shelter-in-place! But you might want to read one - and doing so might make you feel more connected. Had fun sharing some thoughts on "reading with a purpose" Masterpiece Theatre/ Fireside Chat/Shakespeare on Social Distancing/with a touch of Tiger (house cat) King style!
